Potential Bioactive Component...

Tasco® is a natural "functional food" type of feed ingredient that helps modulate functions in the animal relevant to health, productivity and stress resistance. Although Tasco® contains several potential bioactive components, the constituent that is unique is the polysaccharide fraction that makes up about 52 percent of the dry weight. Within this fraction are important sources of complex, sulfated polysaccharides that endow Tasco® with unique characteristics not found in terrestrial plant sources or other common marine plants.

These unique complex polysaccharides are thought to exert a potent prebiotic action that increases the proportion of beneficial gastro-intestinal tract microbes. Tasco® acts to depress the conditions for growth of pathogenic and disease causing microorganisms as well as activates the animal's own immune system. Taken together, these actions of Tasco® serve to improve the overall health status of the animal and reduce its susceptibility to disease, especially under the highly stressful conditions involved in the show animal circuit.
