Recently, our Yarmouth facility has been certified by the Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program administered by the American Feed Industry Association.

Becoming Safe Feed/Safe Food-certified means the facility demonstrates and ensures continuous improvements in delivering safe, wholesome livestock feed for the growth and care of animals. This is a one-of-a-kind, voluntary program that has resulted in the certification of about 330 feed-related facilities. Certified facilities go above and beyond federal requirements to ensure the highest standards in manufacturing and processing are followed each and every day.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) acknowledges that the FeedAssure/ProQualité™ program meets all Food Safety Enhancement Program (FSEP) standards.  The CFIA considers the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC) voluntary Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program FeedAssure™, an industry success story and a very proactive step for the Canadian feed industry in support of food safety.  

Exciting, breakthrough research on the prebiotic effects of Tasco^® has recently been released by our International Research Team. Preliminary results indicate that Tasco^® outperforms the standard prebiotic inulin in body weights, feed intake and feed gain while using a lower inclusion rate.
 
A poster was presented for the first time at the Atlantic Poultry Conference on February 10, 2011 in Nova Scotia, Canada. The research is based on results from a Poultry Prebiotic Model Trial, which is part of a larger research project at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. Our research program continues, so please stay tuned for more exciting results yet to come!

FeedAssure™ is a comprehensive feed safety management and certification program developed for the Canadian feed industry through the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC).

The signing of the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2010 signed into law by President Obama Jan. 4, 2011 means widespread changes for the food and feed industry, Acadian Seaplants officials say our feed manufacturing processes will, for the most part, remain unaffected.
