INTRODUCTION
A trial was conducted at the Animal and Range Sciences Department, North Dakota State University with ruminally, duodenally, and illegally cannulated steers to evaluate the effects of cooked molasses blocks and inclusion of Tasco® on intake, digestion, ruminal fermentation, and microbial efficiency in steers fed low-quality hay.
RESULTS
From this experiment it was observed that Tasco® Block increased dry matter intake compared to No Block.

Tasco® Block treatment also increased organic matter digestibility (total tract digestibility) compared to Control Block and No Block treatments.

CONCLUSION
The inclusion of Tasco® in cooked molasses blocks increased total tract organic matter digestibility by approximately 10%. These increased nutrients are potentially available for increased growth, body reserves and reproduction. |
