INTRODUCTION
Research conducted by the University of Arkansas shows that feeding Tasco® to high producing dairy cows, during hot and humid weather, increases the number of cows pregnant and decreases the calving season compared to the control.

RESULTS

  Number of Cows Pregnant (Mid Nov.) Pregnant (May)
Control (H*) 50 3 (6.0%) 32 (64.0%)
Tasco® (H*) 55 21 (38.2%) 43 (78.2%)
Control (J**) 59 27 (45.8%) 48 (81.4%)
Tasco® (J**) 60 31 (51.7%) 57 (95.0%)
Tasco® was fed for approximately 90 days (July, August and September).
* Holstein, ** Jersey.

The research shows that Tasco® was effective in increasing pregnancy rates in both small frame (ie. Jersey) as well as larger frame cattle (ie. Holstein) under summer heat stress conditions.

Two additional commercial trials concluded that Tasco® improved pregnancy rates in high producing dairy cows.

Herd Treatment Number of Eligible Number of Pregnant Pregnant %
1 Control 62 17 24.4
  Tasco® 77 40 51.9
2 Control 135 76 56.3
  Tasco® 111 70 63.1
University of Florida research shows the average value of a new pregnancy to be $278 (J.Dairy Sci. 89:3876-3885)
